Radon Testing

Before taking any steps to mitigate radon, it's crucial to understand the radon levels in your home or business. At Blue Ridge Radon Mitigation, we offer professional

radon testing services to give you a clear picture of your indoorair quality.

Why Test for Radon?

Radon is a silent threat - colorless, odorless, and

undetectable without specialized equipment. The EPA recommends testing all homes below the third floor for radon, as elevated levels can be found in any type of building. Even if your neighbor's radon levels are low, your home could have dangerous concentrations due to differences in soil composition or construction.

Our Testing Process

Our certified professionals use

state-of-the-art testing equipment to measure radon levels in your property. The testing requires a radon detector in the lowest living areaof your home.

Sub-Slab Depressurization

The most common and effective method of radon mitigation is sub-slab depressurization. This system involves drilling a small hole in the foundation of your home, through which a pipe is inserted. The pope is connected to a fan that draws the radon gas from beneath the slab and vents it safely outside, preventing it from entering your home. This method is highly effective in reducing radon levels and is suitable for most homes.

Crawl Space Ventilation

For homes with crawl spaces, we offer specialized mitigation systems that prevent radon from entering the living areas. This typically involves installing a vapor barrier over the crawl space floor and using ventilation fans to reduce radon levels. This approach not only mitigates radon but also helps control moisture levels in your home, providing additional benefits.

Sealing

In addition to sub-slab depressurization and crawl space ventilation, we may recommend sealing cracks in your foundation, improving ventilation, or using other techniques to reduce radon levels. Our team will assess your property and suggest the most effective combination of methods for your specific situation.

Follow - Up Testing

After 24 to 48 hours after mitigation system is installed, we will conduct a follow-up radon testing to ensure that the levels are below the EPA's recommended threshold. This step is crucial for confirming that the system is functioning properly and that your indoor air is safe.

While most radon mitigation systems are maintenance-free, we recommend periodic retesting to ensure continued effectiveness, especially after major home renovations or changes in the foundation. We offer maintenance services to check the system's components and ensure it's operating at peak performance.
